This section of the website was created for exactly this purpose; to aid and abet you model makers in your quest for perfection! Model making began 5000 years ago when the ancient Egyptians styled detailed models of ships and crewmembers from sycamore wood. These models were a standard practise within their religion, and were created for funerals, the Egyptians believing that they would transport their dead on, into the afterlife. Now the majority of our model makers do so for the pleasure, such as making gothic jewellery , and often turn to creating scale replicas of famous war vehicles or castles, however a large chunk have studied the exacting art of model making, and are contracted by the such like of architects and film makers to create scale models of proposed buildings and bridges, or objects for camera shots respectively.
With an ever-growing fan base, the commercialisation
of model making has taken off. With magazines and video game stores offering
easy ways to create and paint models of children’s favourite demons, action
heroes and other mythical creatures, model making is becoming easier and more
widely available to the masses. No longer seen as an eccentric hobby, the
vocational interest has galvanised many young minds, and with our facts anf
figures page, we hope we can share the collective knowledge that the more
senior model makers have gained through experience to the masses. Finally, if you are looking for display cases for your model, try searching for acrylic display cases.
